What you can expect
A client asks for a course. Sometimes that’s exactly what they need, and sometimes the real issue is a process, a manager or a target that rewards the wrong thing. Even a well-designed programme can go brilliantly on the day and change very little back at work. Across talks, practical skills labs, panels and short sessions, we’ll explore questions such as:
- How do you diagnose the problem before you start designing the solution?
- What can you influence when the barrier isn’t learning?
- How do you challenge a brief, or even turn down the work, without losing the client?
- Why does good training still fail back at work, and what helps it stick?
- How can you show impact beyond attendance and completion figures?
You’ll leave with ideas to try with your own clients and a clearer view of the value you want to bring to your work. The detailed session programme will be added here as speakers are announced.

Free Spirits LIVE! is a choose-your-own-adventure conference. Come for the whole day or dip into the sessions most relevant to you. Expect opportunities to ask questions, join the discussion and connect with people who understand freelance life. There’s space to take a break when you need one, too.
The Conference Village
Your ticket also gives you access to our Slack-based Conference Village from 16 September to 7 October. We’ll share resources and conversation prompts, and you can meet fellow attendees and speakers before the conference and keep talking afterwards.
