Since when was being a Jack of all trades a bad thing?

You’ve probably heard the phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none”.

It’s been around forever, actually dating back to Shakespeare, and somewhere along the way it became a bit of a slur.

But I say no to that.

I like being a Jack of all trades. In fact, I think it’s a bit of a superpower.

At Free Spirits, we talk a lot about finding your niche, we’ve even got a workbook to help you out, but your niche doesn’t have to be a specific skill.

It can be how you think, how you solve problems, or the way you bring things together.

Let that sink in.

If you’re curious, if you feel like you’re a square peg trying to fit into a round hole… maybe your future is to become Jack.

In this webinar, we’ll unpack what that actually looks like in practice.

What you’ll get out of it

Join me for a webinar, with slides and a handout, as we dive into the pros and cons of being multi disciplined. We’ll be looking at things like:

  • A fresh take on what “niche” really means, and why it doesn’t have to box you in
  • The pros and cons of being a Jack of all trades, so you can decide what actually works for you
  • How to position yourself when you do more than one thing, without confusing clients or underselling yourself
  • Ways to talk about your value so clients get it quickly and don’t default to seeing you as “a bit of everything”
  • Practical ideas for shaping your offers so you can still sell clearly, even with a broad skill set

If you’ve ever thought “I can do loads of things… is that a problem?” — make sure you come to this session.

This webinar is for you if:

  • You’re thinking about going freelance, but keep hearing you “need a niche” and it’s putting you off
  • You’re early in your freelance journey and unsure whether to specialise or keep your options open
  • You’ve got multiple skills and experiences, and don’t want to leave half of them at the door
  • You worry that being “too broad” might hold you back, but also don’t want to force yourself into a box
  • You want to build a business that actually fits you, not just follow what everyone else says you should do
