Description
We will explore the practice of yoga by spending time learning physical postures, and other elements of a rounded practice: breath awareness, stillness and relaxation.
What do I need?
- A space where you can practice comfortably
- Good internet connection (so you can join the class via Zoom)
- Comfy clothes you can easily move around in
- Yoga mat (if possible)
- Blanket
- Cushion
But I’m not very flexible!
You can totally practice yoga if you’re inflexible. Yoga is for everyone! Flexibility, size, age or level really don’t matter. As long as you can get up and down from the floor with relative ease – you’ll be great!
It is important you let the teacher know if you have any medical conditions or injuries that can limit your range of movement. You will be asked to complete a Health Form the week before the course starts, you can confidently share anything you need to on that.
Additionally, you are welcome to have a call with Fiona in advance of the course starting, if you have anything you’d like to discuss.
When are the classes?
- Friday mornings
- 7.45am – 8.45am (UK time)
- Starting: Friday 10th January 2025
- Ends: Friday 7th February 2025
What can I expect at class?
Each class will have a slightly different focus, however there are things you’ll notice we always do:
- We start sitting or lying on the floor
- Bring our awareness to our breath to start our practice
- We take our time to move, allowing the body to awaken and warm up
- Have a mixture of lying, sitting, standing and balancing postures
- Always finish back where we started, lying in Savasana.
No. of students: 15 people maximum
When you register for this course your name and email address will be passed to Fiona McBride who will send the Zoom invitations. All students will be required to complete a New Student Registration Form, this will be emailed to you following registration.
After every class students will receive the class recording via email, which they have access to for 7 days – meaning you can practice your yoga every day until the next session!
About Fiona
Yoga has been part of Fiona’s world on and off through the years, in 2018 she found herself being drawn to her yoga mat on a regular basis.
Practicing yoga at home, and following YouTube videos to develop her practice, Fiona found yoga became a place which provided her with space to ‘just be’, also strength, grounding and peace. Fiona became a regular at her local yoga studio and decided at the start of 2019 to take teacher training.
Since qualifying with Be Yoga Sussex in June 2019, Fiona teaches regularly in person and online, offering Hatha flow, Vinyasa flow and Restorative yoga, all with a focus on mindful movement, grounding and connecting with the breath.
Fiona is an avid reader of yoga books, plus enjoys listening to yoga podcasts deepening her understanding and knowledge of this wonderful ancient practice.
Fiona is currently studying for her Vajrasati 500hr Teacher Training, taking her practice to a new focus, including deepening her knowledge and understanding of yoga philosophy and history.
